Serie A1 top team - Venezia (15-2) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat seventh ranked Lucca (7-11) 80-74. Venezia looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Venezia made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American Jolene Anderson (175-86, college: Wisconsin) who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Turkish-American LaToya Sanders (191-86, college: N.Carolina) helped adding 11 points and 14 rebounds. At the losing side American power forward Bashaara Graves (188-94, college: Tennessee) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and the other American import swingman Krystal Vaughn (185-86, college: VCU) scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Venezia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-2 record. Lucca lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. Venezia are looking forward to face San Martino (#5) in San Martino di L in the next round. Lucca will play at home against the league's leader Napoli and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
