There was a minor upset when 9th ranked Empoli (3-14) was crushed on the road by eleventh ranked Torino (3-14) 88-68. Torino shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists. It was an exceptional evening for center Valeria Trucco (190-99) who led the winners and scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Point guard Ilaria Milazzo (167-94) accounted for 14 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. Five Torino players scored in double figures. Naturalized Brazilian swingman Tayara Madonna (170-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency) came up with 11 points and 8 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Gabriele Narviciute (190-90) added 15 points respectively for Empoli in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Torino moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Battipaglia and Empoli. Torino will play against higher ranked Ragusa (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Empoli will play against the league's second-placed Familia Schio (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
