There was no surprise when 5th ranked Cavaliers (14-47) lost to third ranked Trail Blazers (37-23) in Portland 110-123 on Monday. Trail Blazers made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Trail Blazers had a 39-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 62.1 percentage. Trail Blazers looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Guard CJ McCollum (193-91, college: Lehigh) orchestrated the victory by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Point guard Damian Lillard (190-90, college: Weber St.) contributed with 21 points and 8 assists for the winners. North Macedonian-Turkish forward Cedi Osman (204-95) answered with 27 points and 7 rebounds and Kevin Love (208-88, college: UCLA) added 18 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Cavaliers. Five Cavaliers players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Trail Blazers have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 37-23 record having just nine point less than leader Toronto R., which they share with Boston C. Loser Cavaliers keep the fifth position with 47 games lost.
