Regular Season Round 5: Tbilisi - Arena-Orbi 79-75

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Tbilisi (#6) and Arena-Orbi (#4). Tbilisi (1-4) won against visiting Arena-Orbi (1-4) 79-75. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-15. But Arena-Orbi won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Tbilisi won last quarter 20-17. Forward Vasil Beruashvili (198-90) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and guard Giorgi Dvali (182-95) accounted for 23 points. American guard Glen Burns (190-95, college: Chicago St.) came up with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals and the other American import forward Armani Flannigan (203-92, college: N.Texas) added 22 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Arena-Orbi in the defeat. Arena-Orbi's coach Dejan Prokic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tbilisi left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with Abkhazeti and Arena-Orbi. It was Arena-Orbi's third loss in a row. Tbilisi will play against league's leader CIU in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Arena-Orbi will play against Vera and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
