Important game to mention about took place in Tampere. Sixth ranked Kouvot (14-14) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (18-11) 83-80 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tampereen Pyrinto. It looked good early as Tampereen Pyrinto took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kouvot had a 21-15 second period charge getting the lead and Tampereen Pyrinto was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 80-83. Americans were the main players on the court. Brian Asbury (201-86, college: Miami, FL) notched 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St.) supported him with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Even 17 points and 6 rebounds by swingman Kenny Manigault (196-91, college: Pikeville) did not help to save the game for Tampereen Pyrinto. Power forward Kevin Johnson (201-84, college: Humboldt St.) added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Five Kouvot and four Tampereen Pyrinto players scored in double figures. Tampereen Pyrinto's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kouvot maintains sixth position with 14-14 record. Tampereen Pyrinto at the other side keeps the third place with 11 games lost. Kouvot will play against Helsinki Seagulls (#7) on the road in the next round. Tampereen Pyrinto will play against Lapuan Korikobrat (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
