The game in Gomel supposed to be also worth to mention about. Rubon (13-8) played at the court of GOCOR-Sozh (3-18). Rubon smashed GOCOR-Sozh 115-88. The game without a history. Rubon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to GOCOR-Sozh's 34 and made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Rubon forced 20 GOCOR-Sozh turnovers and outrebounded them 49-35 including 17 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by GOCOR-Sozh's players. It was a good game for the former international guard Maksim Shustov (188-86) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 19 assists. Russian forward Marsel Ovsepyan (202-90) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Five Rubon players scored in double figures. Guard Timofey Verevkin (185-93) answered with 40 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and guard Denis Yarets (188-89) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for GOCOR-Sozh. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rubon will play against Brest (#7) at home in the next round. GOCOR-Sozh will play against Impuls BGUIR in Minsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
