Regular Season Round 22: KR - Haukar 72-75

Date: February 27, 2019
Important game to mention about took place in Reykjavik. Sixth ranked Haukar (8-14) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging much higher ranked KR (15-7) 75-72 on Wednesday evening. KR was ahead by 6 points after three quarters before a 22-13 charge of Haukar, which allowed them to win the game. International point guard Thora Jonsdottir (171-97) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and forward Eva Kristjansdottir (180-97) supported her with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 18 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by American guard Kiana Johnson (171-93, college: Virginia Union) did not help to save the game for KR. Finnish guard Vilma Kesanen (173-88, agency: ProDep Management) added 25 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Four KR players scored in double figures. Haukar have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains sixth position with 8-14 record. Newly promoted KR dropped to the third place with seven games lost. Haukar will play against league's leader Valur in Reykjavik in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. KR will play on the road against Stjarnan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
