Regular Season Round 20: Mataro Parc - Coruna 58-61

There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Coruna (5-15) edged on the road 10th ranked Mataro Parc (7-13) 61-58 on Saturday. Strangely Mataro Parc outrebounded Coruna 41-28 including a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Tatiana Casal (-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Andrea Perez (178-93) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Judy Jones (175-90, college: Grand Canyon) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Itziar Llobet (181-93, college: Kent St.) added 17 points in the effort for Mataro Parc. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Coruna moved-up to twelfth place in Group A, which they share with ADBA. Mataro Parc at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Coruna will face league's leader Real Celta Vigo at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
