There was a minor upset when 11th ranked Univ.Valladolid (4-15) was edged at home by fourteenth ranked Solares (4-15) 73-72 on Saturday. Solares made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American power forward RJ Freeman (205-95, college: Pikeville) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman James Pegues (198-93, college: Newman) helped adding 17 points and 7 rebounds. Freeman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Javier Martinez (187-97) responded with 22 points and power forward Alvaro Encinas (202-94) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Solares moved-up to twelfth place in Group A-A, which they share with defeated Univ.Valladolid. Univ.Valladolid lost their seventh game in a row. Solares will face Ordizia-Basoa (#14) at home in the next round.
