There was no surprise in Hamamatsu where 5th ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (17-24) was crushed by second ranked Tochigi Brex (33-8) 73-53 on Saturday. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to San-en NeoPhoenix's 32. They outrebounded San-en NeoPhoenix 43-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Point guard Shinnosuke Ohishi (174-87) produced 19 points and 8 rebounds and American center William McDonald (211-79, college: S.Florida) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Tochigi Brex. They maintain second place with 33-8 record behind leader Ryukyu GK. San-en NeoPhoenix lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 24 games lost. Tochigi Brex will have a break next round. San-en NeoPhoenix will play again at home against the league's second-placed Tochigi Brex (#2) and hope to win that game.
