Sixth-ranked Rishon (9-11) made lots of trouble for third ranked Maccabi T-A (15-4) in Rishon Le-Zion on Monday. The visitors from Tel-Aviv managed to secure only two-point victory 94-92. However their fans expected easier game. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Maccabi T-A made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jeremy Pargo (188-86, college: Gonzaga) who scored 17 points and 6 assists. International point guard John DiBartolomeo (183-91, college: Rochester, agency: Duran International) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. DiBartolomeo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. American guard Alex Hamilton (193-93, college: Louisiana Tech) produced 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and international power forward Itay Segev (204-95) added 9 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Maccabi T-A have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Rishon lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Galil Gilboa. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face Hapoel Jerusalem (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
