A very interesting game took place in Lille. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 10th ranked Lille Metropole (9-11) to ninth ranked Nantes (10-9) 74-71 on Tuesday evening. American guard Sterling Gibbs (188-93, college: Connecticut, agency: Octagon Europe) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Ivorian swingman Vafessa Fofana (198-92) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Nantes players scored in double figures. Spanish guard Marcos Suka-Umu (193-85) replied with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Rakeem Buckles (201-90, college: FIU) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Lille Metropole. Nantes moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Blois. Lille Metropole at the other side keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. Nantes' next round opponent will be higher ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (#7) in Bischwiller and it may be quite challenging game. Lille Metropole will play on the road against C'Chartres and hope to win that game.
