Regular Season Round 23: Keflavik - Snaefell 79-77

Fourth-ranked Snaefell (13-10) made lots of trouble for second ranked Keflavik (17-6) on Wednesday. Keflavik managed to secure only two-point victory 79-77. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 38-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Brittanny Dinkins (170-94, college: S.Mississippi) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international forward Bryndis Gudmundsdottir (178-88) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Keflavik's coach Jon Gudmundsson used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman Kristen McCarthy (180-90, college: Temple, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) produced a double-double by scoring 31 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and Polish swingman Angelika Kowalska (179-92) added 21 points respectively for the guests. Keflavik keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Valur. Snaefell at the other side dropped to the fifth place with ten games lost. Keflavik is looking forward to face Skallagrimur (#7) in Borganes in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Snaefell will play at home against Stjarnan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
