The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Stjarnan (15-5) in Reykjavik on Friday night. Visitors were edged by fifth ranked KR (13-7) 88-87. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Stjarnan. Stjarnan was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 23-19 charge of KR, which allowed them to win the game. KR outrebounded Stjarnan 45-34 including 18 on the offensive glass. American forward Julian Boyd (201-90, college: LIU Brooklyn) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds. Italian-American point guard Mike DiNunno (180-90, college: E.Kentucky, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 27 points and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Brandon Rozzell (188-89, college: VCU) replied with 29 points and the former international power forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82) added 14 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Stjarnan. Four Stjarnan players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 13-7 record. Stjarnan at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. They share the position with Njardvik. KR's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Reykjavik to the arena IR.
