Date: March 8, 2019
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Pinheiros as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Pinheiros defeated 4th placed Mogi in Sao Paulo 78-71. It was a great evening for American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. His fellow American import guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) helped adding 17 points. Four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Joao-Paulo Batista (205-81, college: Gonzaga) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF) scored 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Mogi lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with eight games lost. Mogi will play next round against Botafogo F.R. trying to get back on the winning streak. Pinheiros will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Brasilia on the road.
