Regular Season Round 31: KTP Basket - Vilpas 93-100

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kotka. First ranked Vilpas faced 4th placed KTP-Basket. Guests from Salo (27-4) defeated host KTP-Basket (17-13) 100-93. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 32-21. But KTP-Basket won second period 28-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Vilpas won last quarter 29-23. They made 23-of-27 charity shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. KTP-Basket was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Brandon Taylor (201-94, college: Penn St.) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Jack Gibbs (183-95, college: Davidson, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 12 points and 8 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Power forward Kevin Langford (203-85, college: TCU, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 27 points and 7 rebounds and forward Donte Thomas (200-96, college: Bradley) added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for KTP-Basket. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. KTP-Basket's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vilpas have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 27-4 record. KTP-Basket lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 13 games lost. Vilpas will play against Lapuan Korikobrat (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. KTP-Basket will play against BC Nokia (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
