Regular Season Round 24: Alcobendas - Daimiel 72-70

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Daimiel (5-17) was edged on the road by third ranked Alcobendas (17-6) 72-70 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The best player for the winners was power forward Roberto Morentin (204-81, college: Cent.Florida) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Center Pablo Rodrigo (204-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Alcobendas players scored in double figures. Alcobendas' coach Jose Antonio Ramirez used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Anthony Holliday (191-92, college: Lamar) who recorded 24 points and Cuban forward Georvys Elias (199-81) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Alcobendas have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group B with 17-6 record having just thirteen point less than leader Lliria. Daimiel lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixteenth place with 17 games lost. Alcobendas will face league's leader Gran Canaria II in Las Palmas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Daimiel will play at home against Lanzarote (#9) and hope to win that game.
