Regular Season Round 21: Evropi - Iraklis 52-88

There was no surprise in Pefkohori where 11th ranked Evropi (8-13) was crushed by second ranked Iraklis (18-3) 88-52 on Saturday. Iraklis dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Evropi's 28. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Kostas Kakaroudis (204-83) chipped in 21 points. Four Iraklis players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Lefteris Akepsimaidis (190-85) who recorded 12 points and power forward Konstantinos Kampouridis (204-99) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Iraklis. They maintain second place with 18-3 record behind leader Ionikos Nikaias. Newly promoted Evropi keeps the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Iraklis will face Charilaos TM (#6) in Mesolongi in the next round. Evropi will play on the road against Ippokratis (#5) and hope to win that game.
