Regular Season Round 46: Yamagata - Kumamoto V. 74-88

Very expected game when 5th ranked Yamagata (17-29) lost at home to first ranked Kumamoto V. (33-13) 88-74 on Saturday. It was a very good performance for American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Point guard Takumi Furuno (179-93) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Kumamoto V.'s coach Takayuki Yasuda used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 20 rebounds and point guard Hikaru Akiyama (174-95) added 28 points and 4 steals in the effort for Yamagata. Kumamoto V. maintains first position with 33-13 record, which they share with Shimane SM. Yamagata lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with 29 games lost. Kumamoto V. will have a break next round. Yamagata will play again at home against the league's leader Kumamoto V. (#1) and hope to win that game.
