There was no surprise in Santa Cruz de Ten. where 10th ranked Estudio (8-11) was defeated by fourth ranked Tenerife Naut. (16-6) 91-78 on Saturday. Tenerife Naut. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Estudio's 34. They outrebounded Estudio 43-26 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Estudio was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was power forward Samuel Rodriguez (202-97) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Danish center Sami Eleraky (213-93, college: Pacific) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was forward Gabriel Rodriguez (199-90) who recorded 12 points and 8 rebounds and forward Eduardo Gomez (194-93) added 12 points respectively. Four Tenerife Naut. and five Estudio players scored in double figures. Estudio's coach Borja Gonzalez rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Tenerife Naut. maintains fourth position in Group B with 16-6 record. Loser Estudio dropped to the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Tenerife Naut. will face Liceo Frances (#14) in Madrid in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Estudio will play on the road against Aridane in Los Llanos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
