Regular Season Round 23: Botafogo F.R. - Brasilia 79-65

Date: March 9, 2019
Not a big story in a game in Rio de Janeiro where 11th ranked Brasilia (8-15) was defeated by sixth ranked Botafogo F.R. (11-12) 79-65. Brasilia was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for forward Arthur Bernardi (206-90, college: Houston Baptist) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Caue-Borges dos-Santos (187-91) accounted for 12 points, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Four Botafogo F.R. players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Welington Dos-Santos (185-81) came up with 12 points and 6 assists and Venezuelan center Windi Graterol (204-86, agency: Pro Sports) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Brasilia in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Botafogo F.R. maintains sixth place with 11-12 record. Newly promoted Brasilia keeps the eleventh position with 15 games lost. They share it with B.Cearense. Botafogo F.R. will play against higher ranked Mogi (#4) in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Brasilia will play at home against the league's leader Pinheiros (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
