No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Unicaja Malaga (14-8) defeated at home bottom-ranked Gipuzkoa (4-18) 87-69 on Sunday. The game without a history. Unicaja Malaga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Unicaja Malaga outrebounded Gipuzkoa 32-18 including 22 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American point guard Brian Roberts (187-85, college: Dayton) fired 22 points and 6 assists for the winners (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Unicaja Malaga's coach Luis Casimiro used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Georgian Beqa Burjanadze (201-94) produced 11 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Nick Zeisloft (193-92, college: Indiana) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Four Gipuzkoa players scored in double figures. Unicaja Malaga maintains fourth position with 14-8 record, which they share with Valencia. Loser Gipuzkoa stay at the bottom place with 18 games lost. Unicaja Malaga will face Gran Canaria (#15) in Las Palmas in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gipuzkoa will play at home against Leche Rio Breogan and hope to win that game.
