Regular Season Round 40: Iwate Big Bulls - Toyoda Gosei 68-82

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (6-28) were defeated at home by second ranked Toyoda Gosei (26-8) 82-68 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Irish Brian Voelkel (196-92, college: Vermont) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points, 18 rebounds and 8 assists and American Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) who added 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Five Toyoda Gosei players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Marcus Cousin (211-86, college: Houston) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import Titus Robinson (201-90, college: Buffalo) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Toyoda Gosei maintains second position with 26-8 record having five points less than leader Tokyo Excel. Loser Iwate Big Bulls keep the ninth place with 28 games lost. Toyoda Gosei will meet Gifu Swoops (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Iwate Big Bulls will play against the league's leader Tokyo Excel. and hope to secure a win.
