The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Clippers' (39-29) road victory over 3rd placed Celtics (41-27) in Boston 140-115 on Monday. Clippers dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Celtics' 60 and made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Celtics 47-29 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Clippers looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Celtics were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for Lou Williams (185-86) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Italian Danilo Gallinari (208-88) contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Australian-American guard Kyrie Irving (190-92, college: Duke) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 assists and point guard Terry Rozier (185-94, college: Louisville) added 26 points in the effort for Celtics. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Clippers. They maintain second place with 39-29 record having one point less than leader Toronto R. Loser Celtics keep the third position with 27 games lost. Clippers will face Trail Blazers (#3) in Portland in the next day, which may be the game of the day.
