The game in Belmopan supposed to be also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Defenders (3-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Red Bandits (1-5). Defenders smashed Red Bandits 99-68 on Friday. Defenders dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Red Bandits' 42. Defenders forced 20 Red Bandits turnovers and outrebounded them 48-36 including 16 on the offensive glass. American center Nigel Jones (201-90, college: Talladega) fired 24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international forward Darwin Leslie (191-81) chipped in 14 points. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Defenders players scored in double figures. Forward Kevon Laurie produced 13 points and 8 rebounds and American center Jevonte Hughes (196-93, college: Charleston) added 17 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defenders moved-up to fourth place, which they share with San Pedro T. Red Bandits lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with five games lost. Defenders' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Belize City to the arena Running Rebels.
