Second Stage Round 6: Rubon - RCOP Tsmoki 98-67

There was no surprise in Vitebsk where 8th ranked RCOP Tsmoki (4-20) was crushed by sixth ranked Rubon (15-9) 98-67. The game was mostly controlled by Rubon. RCOP Tsmoki was better in third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Rubon forced 28 RCOP Tsmoki turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. The former international guard Maksim Shustov (188-86) notched 15 points and 8 assists to lead the effort and center Pavel Bliznec (210-94) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by forward Arseni Tugarinov (195-2) did not help to save the game for RCOP Tsmoki. Raman Gest (197-1) added 14 points and 5 rebounds. Five Rubon and four RCOP Tsmoki players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rubon used an opportunity after Impuls BGUIR lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. RCOP Tsmoki at the other side keeps the eighth place with 20 games lost. Rubon's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Prinemanye (#10) in Grodno where they are favorite. RCOP Tsmoki will play at home against GOCOR-Sozh and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
