There was no surprise when 9th ranked Alcobendas (10-12) was crushed at home by fourth ranked Leganes (15-7) 79-60 on Saturday. Leganes dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Alcobendas' 30. They outrebounded Alcobendas 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Center Daira Varas (193-89) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Celia Menendez (186-90, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 23 points. American center Erika Livermore (185-93, college: Fair Dickinson) produced 20 points and her fellow American import guard Sierra Moore (180-94, college: Penn St.) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Alcobendas' coach Alex Pajares tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Leganes moved-up to third place in Group B. Alcobendas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. Leganes will face Genero (#13) in Las Palmas in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Alcobendas will play on the road against Picken Claret (#6) in Valencia and hope to win that game.
