There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Rivas (11-12) defeated at home 6th ranked CB Guadalajara (12-12) 93-83 on Saturday. Rivas made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. CB Guadalajara was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for swingman Ruben Martinez (196-85) who helped to win the game recording 18 points. Guard Miguel Zamora (189-93) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Rivas' coach Juanjo Simon used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian forward Alfio Niello (200-91) answered with 19 points and 7 rebounds and forward Raul Lazaro (195-87) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for CB Guadalajara. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rivas maintains eighth place in Group B with 11-12 record. CB Guadalajara lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. Rivas will face Casvi (#16) in Villaviciosa in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
