There was no surprise when 9th ranked Milano (10-14) was defeated at home by second ranked Costa Masnaga (20-4) 59-50 on Saturday. Costa Masnaga outrebounded Milano 46-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Valentina Baldelli (169-89) who scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Martina Spinelli (184-2) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Spanish forward Maria Royo (178-86) who recorded 13 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Stefania Guarneri (182-95) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Costa Masnaga maintains second position in A2 with 20-4 record behind leader Alpo VF. Loser Milano keeps the ninth place with 14 games lost. Costa Masnaga will face Ponzano (#14) in Veneto in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Milano will play on the road against Team Crema (#3) and hope to win that game.
