Regular Season Round 24: Albino - Ponzano 69-63

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Ponzano (8-16) was defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked Albino (8-15) 69-63 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Bosnian Melisa Brcaninovic (190-99, agency: BeoBasket) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Ilaria Bonvecchio (175-94) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Australian swingman Alex Ciabattoni (183-94) who recorded 28 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and Anna Pizzolato (-88) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Ponzano's coach Maurizio Sottana rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Albino moved-up to eleventh place in A2. Newly promoted Ponzano dropped to the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Albino will face higher ranked Bolzano BK (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ponzano will play against the league's second-placed Costa Masnaga (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
