Regular Season Round 47: Ryukyu GK - Fukuoka Rizing 61-59

Fifth-ranked Fukuoka Rizing (11-36) gave a tough game to first ranked Ryukyu GK (30-17) in Okinawa. Ryukyu GK managed to secure only two-point victory 61-59. However their fans expected much easier game. Ryukyu GK outrebounded Fukuoka Rizing 41-29 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Kevin Jones (206-89, college: W.Virginia) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. The former international guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) accounted for 21 points for the winning side. American forward Marqus Blakely (201-88, college: Vermont) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: Arizona St.) added 23 points respectively for Fukuoka Rizing in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ryukyu GK maintains first place with 30-17 record, which they share with Kawasaki BT. Newly promoted Fukuoka Rizing keeps the fifth position with 36 games lost. They share it with Shiga L-Stars. Ryukyu GK will play against Shiga L-Stars (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fukuoka Rizing will play against Toyama Grouses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
