Very expected game when 12th ranked Valmontone (7-16) was edged at home by third ranked Salerno (19-6) 68-66 on Sunday. Forward Lorenzo Tortu (200-92) stepped up and scored 16 points for the winners and point guard Roberto Maggio (183-90) chipped in 16 points. At the losing side guard Daniele Grilli (190-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the former international power forward Luca Bisconti (208-82, agency: SPORTlab Agency) scored 15 points. Salerno maintains third place in B with 19-6 record having just three points less than leader Deco Caserta. Loser Valmontone keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Salerno will face Scauri (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Valmontone will play against Battipaglia and hope to win that game.
