Regular Season Round 2: Mieleras - Mexcaltecas 78-56

No shocking result in a game when Mieleras (2-0) crushed Mexcaltecas (0-2) in Guanajuato 78-56 on Sunday. Mieleras dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Mexcaltecas' 36. Mieleras forced 23 Mexcaltecas turnovers. Center Diana Armas (-93) notched 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Hazel Ramirez (165-92, college: Loyola Mary) supported her with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Mieleras' coach Jose Villegas felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 14 points and 9 rebounds by the former international center Jazmin Valenzuela (187-89) did not help to save the game for Mexcaltecas. Fernanda Migdalia added 15 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Mieleras will meet Quetzales (#4) in the next round. Mexcaltecas will play against Acereras (#5) in San Luis Potosi and hope to win that game.
