Regular Season Round 25: Paulistano - Franca 86-93
Date: March 18, 2019
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Sao Paulo: Vivo/Franca (#3) and Paulistano (#5). Paulistano was defeated at home 86-93 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The former international point guard Elio Corazza (193-89, college: Miami Dade CC) stepped up and scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and the former international Lucas Cipolini (206-86, college: BYU-Hawaii) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side the former international point guard Georginho de-Paula (195-96) responded with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and international forward Renan Lenz (206-90, college: Utah) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Vivo/Franca and four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Paulistano's coach Regis Marrelli rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Vivo/Franca. Defending champion (20-3) moved-up to second place. Paulistano at the other side keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. Vivo/Franca will play against Joinville (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Paulistano will play against Sao Jose (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
