Date: March 18, 2019
There was a small surprise in Indianapolis where second ranked Trail Blazers (43-27) beat their close opponent Pacers (44-27) 106-98 on Monday. Trail Blazers made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Trail Blazers made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was point guard Damian Lillard (190-90, college: Weber St.) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 assists. Bosnian-Slovenian center Jusuf Nurkic (213-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Five Trail Blazers players scored in double figures. Power forward Myles Turner (211-96, college: Texas) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds and guard Wesley Matthews (196-86, college: Marquette) added 14 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trail Blazers maintains second position with 43-27 record having three points less than leader Toronto R. which they share with defeated Pacers. Loser Pacers keep the second place with 27 games lost. Trail Blazers will have a break next day. Pacers will play on the road against the league's second-placed Clippers in Los Angeles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
