Important game to mention about took place in Lapua. Seventh ranked Helsinki Seagulls (16-18) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 9th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (12-22) 82-81 on Friday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-12. But Lapuan Korikobrat won second period 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Lapuan Korikobrat outrebounded Helsinki Seagulls 37-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Swingman Alex Ruoff (198-86, college: W.Virginia, agency: Inception Sports) stepped up and scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and point guard Juwan Staten (185-92, college: W.Virginia) chipped in 19 points. The best for the losing side was guard Jaron Hopkins (198-94, college: Fresno St.) with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Larry Anderson (195-89, college: Long Beach St.) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Helsinki Seagulls have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Kouvot. Loser Lapuan Korikobrat keeps the ninth position with 22 games lost. Helsinki Seagulls will face higher ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lapuan Korikobrat will play against the league's second-placed Kauhajoki (#2) and hope to win that game.
