Regular Season Round 3: Santo Andre - Sampaio 60-68

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Santo Andre (1-1) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Sampaio (3-0) 68-60. Sampaio dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Santo Andre's 32. The best player for the winners was international forward Raphaella Monteiro (181-95) who scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Tyler Scaife (175-94, college: Rutgers) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Jaqueline de-Paula (178-86) who recorded 18 points and guard Alana Goncalo (166-94) added 12 points, 5 assists and 5 steals respectively. Four Santo Andre players scored in double figures. Sampaio is looking forward to face SBC/Brazolin/UNIP (#6) in Sao Bernardo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Santo Andre will play at home against UNINASSAU and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
