No shocking result in a game in Thessaloniki where sixth ranked PAOK (13-7) defeated 9th ranked Aris (6-14) 62-58 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Aris won third quarter 14-6. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when PAOK won last quarter 16-13. They made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Aris turnovers. Aris was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was international power forward Vangelis Margaritis (203-82) who scored 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian guard Milenko Tepic (202-87, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 9 points and 6 rebounds. International point guard Lefteris Bochoridis (193-94) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Vasileios Toliopoulos (186-96) added 13 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. PAOK moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Peristeri GS and Promitheas. Aris lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 14 games lost. PAOK will face Lavrio (#10) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Aris will play against AEK in Athens and hope to win that game.
