Regular Season Round 27: Aquimisa LZ - Girona Basquet 87-68

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Girona Basquet (15-13) was smashed on the road by second ranked Zamorano (16-11) 87-68 on Saturday. Zamorano shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 68.2 percentage. It was a good game for French point guard Sango Niang (183-93, college: Simon Fraser) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 6 assists. Hungarian point guard Adam Somogyi (193-0) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Forward Jordi Trias (208-80) answered with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Sergi Costa (188-96) added 13 points in the effort for Girona Basquet. Five Zamorano and four Girona Basquet players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zamorano maintains second place in Silver with 16-11 record having seven points less than leader Lucentum. Newly promoted Girona Basquet keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. Zamorano will face Almansa (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Girona Basquet will play against Azpeitia ISB and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
