Regular Season Round 50: Tokyo HT - Tokyo Z 70-83
Date: March 23, 2019
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tokyo: Tokyo Z (#5) and Tokyo HT (#6). Tokyo HT was defeated at home 70-83 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Tokyo Z looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 18 rebounds. Australian power forward Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four Tokyo Z players scored in double figures. American power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import center Jordan Richard (206-89, college: CS Los Angeles, agency: Slash Sports) added 13 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tokyo Z have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 19-32 record. Tokyo HT lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth place with 41 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
