Regular Season Round 23: H.Jerusalem - Ashdod 92-82

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (8-15) was defeated on the road by third ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (16-7) 92-82. Hapoel Jerusalem outrebounded Maccabi Ashdod 43-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for international point guard Tamir Blatt (182-97) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 8 assists. American forward Tashawn Thomas (203-93, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) accounted for 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Hapoel Jerusalem's coach David-Oded Kattache allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American Mark Tollefsen (206-92, college: Arizona) came up with 28 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and international Nimrod Levi (208-95) added 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Maccabi Ashdod in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel Jerusalem maintains third place with 16-7 record having just one point less than leader Maccabi T-A. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. Hapoel Jerusalem's next round opponent will be Ironi Nahariya (#11) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Hapoel Eilat and hope to win that game.
