The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Toyama Grouses' (25-23) road victory over 5th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (11-37) 91-82 on Saturday. Toyama Grouses looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Five Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: Arizona St.) who recorded 21 points and 8 rebounds and guard Yasuhiro Yamashita (187-86) added 18 points and 6 assists respectively. Fukuoka Rizing's coach Ryuji Kawai rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Toyama Grouses have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Nagoya DD. Fukuoka Rizing lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with 37 games lost. Toyama Grouses will have a break next round. Fukuoka Rizing will play again at home against Toyama Grouses (#3) and hope to win that game.
