Regular Season Round 23: Kavala - Koroivos 68-64

There was a minor upset when 13th ranked Koroivos (8-15) was defeated on the road by fifteenth ranked Kavala (7-16) 68-64 on Saturday. It was a great evening for forward Giannis Prodromou (196-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Sokratis Naoumis (189-97) helped adding 11 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Prodromou is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Kavala players scored in double figures. Latvian point guard Toms Leimanis (190-94) responded with 26 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and naturalized German forward Dimitris Cheilaris (206-90) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Kavala maintains fifteenth place with 7-16 record. Koroivos lost their third game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Kavala will face league's second-placed Iraklis in Thessaloniki in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
