There was a change at the Serie A1 leadership position after last games. Round 23 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Venezia (17-3). They were edged by fourth ranked San Martino (13-7) 55-54 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Venezia. They outrebounded Venezia 39-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American swingman Tyaunna Marshall (175-92, college: Georgia Tech) who led her team to a victory scoring 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Latvian center Zenta Melnika (197-91) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Turkish-American LaToya Sanders (191-86, college: N.Carolina) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and the former international point guard Debora Carangelo (169-92) scored 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. San Martino have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 13-7 record, which they share with Broni. Venezia at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Napoli who have the same record.
