Regular Season Round 14: Delta - Batumi 70-78

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Batumi (5-9) beat higher ranked Delta (8-6) in Tbilisi 78-70 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-13. But Delta won second period 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Batumi dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Delta's 26. American guard Kasey Shepherd (190-94, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Duran International) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 8 rebounds. Serbian center Stefan Andrejevic (209-93) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Four Batumi players scored in double figures. American guard Eric Nottage (189-94, college: FIU, agency: Court Side) replied with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international point guard Otar Pkhakadze (188-93, college: Simpson, CA) added 19 points and 4 assists in the effort for Delta. Batumi moved-up to seventh place, which they share with BC Titebi. Delta at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Batumi will face higher ranked TSU-Hyundai (#6) in Tbilisi in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Delta's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi BC Titebi.
