No shocking result in a game when third ranked Toyama Grouses (26-23) crushed on the road 6th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (11-38) 101-74 on Sunday. Toyama Grouses made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Toyama Grouses outrebounded Fukuoka Rizing 39-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Fukuoka Rizing was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) contributed with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Masashi Joho (183-82) answered with 18 points and 4 assists and American forward Marqus Blakely (201-88, college: Vermont) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Fukuoka Rizing. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Toyama Grouses. They maintain third place with 26-23 record having sixteen points less than leader Ryukyu GK.
