Regular Season Round 23: MIA-RO Cantu - Alma TR 66-88

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked MIA-RO Cantu (12-11) was crushed at home by tenth ranked Alma TR (12-11) 88-66 on Sunday. Alma TR looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for Slovenian swingman Zoran Dragic (196-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American point guard Chris Wright (185-89, college: Georgetown) helped adding 8 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Alma TR's coach Eugenio Dalmasson felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: PFW) responded with 25 points and the other American import forward Shaheed Davis (206-94, college: Cent.Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Alma TR moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated MIA-RO Cantu. Alma TR will face higher ranked Vanoli Cremona (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
