Regular Season Round 17: Fubon Braves - Taiwan Beer 76-73

The most exciting game of round 17 in the SBL ended with only three-point defeat of second-ranked Taiwan Beer (21-13) to first ranked Fubon Braves (23-12) 76-73 in the game for the first place. Fubon Braves looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fubon Braves made 7 blocks. American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) stepped up and scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and Costa Rican-Belizean forward Charles Garcia (208-88, college: Seattle) chipped in 7 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Ukrainian power forward Igor Zaytsev (210-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and Lithuanian swingman Edvinas Seskus (196-95) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fubon Braves have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 23-12 record. Taiwan Beer at the other side keeps the second position with 13 games lost. Fubon Braves are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Bank of Taiwan (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Taiwan Beer will play against KKL (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
