Regular Season Round 53: Hiroshima D. - Shimane SM 75-58

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Shimane Magic (39-14) in Hiroshima on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Dragonflies (31-22) 75-58. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Shimane Magic. Dragonflies dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Shimane Magic's 34. Dragonflies had a 41-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dragonflies made 7 blocks. American power forward Jamari Traylor (203-92, college: Kansas) stepped up and scored 23 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 blocks for the winners and the former international forward Shogo Asayama (192-81) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and Hungarian-American Rosco Allen (208-93, college: Stanford, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Dragonflies maintains third place with 31-22 record having six points less than leader Shinshu BW. Shimane Magic at the other side still keeps top position with 14 games lost. Dragonflies are again looking forward to face league's leader Shimane Magic at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shimane Magic will have a break next round.
