There was no surprise when 8th ranked Senators (1-2) were edged by fifth ranked Giants (3-1) in Kalgoorlie 88-85 on Saturday. Giants made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Patrick Burke (201-96, college: Dallas Baptist) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Jay Bowie (196-92, college: Marist) contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Giants players scored in double figures. American guard Justin King (196-89, college: TRU) answered with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Cody Ellis (202-90, college: St.Louis) added 24 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Senators. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Giants maintains fifth place in League with 3-1 record. Loser Senators dropped to the tenth position with two games lost. Giants will face Flames (#6) in Rockingham in the next round. Senators will play at home against Tigers (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
